Description
Nova is a hardy, Canadian-bred summer-bearing (floricane) red raspberry known for its high yields of firm, large berries with a flavour that is generally described as bright, sweet with a hint of tartness. Developed in Nova Scotia, Canada, this variety is exceptionally cold-tolerant (hardy to zone 3) and vigorous, making it well-suited for northern gardens. It is a floricane variety, meaning it primarily produces fruit on second-year canes. Berries typically ripen in July. It offers a plentiful and reliable yield. In some warmer climates, it can produce two crops per season in late fall. The berries are bright red, large, and notably firm, which is a key trait that makes them suitable for commercial plantings and transportation.
The canes are upright and have very few thorns, which makes harvesting easier and more pleasant.
Raspberries are a bush that will grow 5-6ft tall with a 2-3ft spread. Space canes 2-3ft apart when growing.
Selling as bareroots (not potted) with pickup at the end of April. Sold in bundles of 5 for $25 ($5 per cane). Unfortunately smaller quantities are not available. Note when you buy 1 bundle you’ll get 5 canes.
